Koeru mõisa park, Koeru, 2020
2020. aastal valmis Liivi käe all Kalju Lepiku mälestusmärk Koerus. The sculptor depicts Kalju Lepik as a boy sitting on a stone reading a book, just as locals remember Kalju from his school days. The title of the work is “Center of the Earth”, with which the author conveys Lepik’s deep affection and longing for his homeland as a recurring motif in the poet’s work. For the writer, who lived in Koeru in his youth, Koeru was the center of the world. The memorial stone was found and installed with the help of locals, and a mountain ash was planted behind the stone. The stone has a bronze plaque with lines from Kalju Lepik’s poem:
Let me come to your warm embrace,
here is the center of the earth
and the burning of colors.
Even the silence stands still.
The monument was opened in Koeru in 2020, on the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kalju alder.[3]
