Ülo Pärnits memorial in Ülemiste City

Valukoja 8, Ülemiste City, Tallinn, 2018

In 2018, a lifelike bronze memorial to Ülo Pärnitsa made by Elo Liiv was opened in Ülemiste City. Located in front of the representative office towers of the Öpik building at Valukoja 8, the sculpture depicts Ülo Pärnitsa sitting on a bench, the founder of the Ülemiste City township, a long-time Mainor leader, a pioneer of new era education and a great visionary. Pärnitsa’s nature is well captured, her humor and enthusiasm and her unceasing energy and hard work are only paused for a moment to focus on the realization of her visions – but even then she can’t do it quite calmly. Pärnits was a person who did not put emphasis on the external, but he did appreciate ambition and passion and, above all, a person’s thirst for knowledge. His life experience and knowledge, words of instruction for future generations are worth reading again and again.[2]
