Koeru manor park, Koeru, 2020
In 2020, the Kalju Lepik memorial in Koeru was completed by Liiv. The sculptor depicts Kalju Lepik as a boy sitting on a rock reading a book, just as the locals remember Kalju from his school days. The title of the work is “Center of the Earth”, with which the author conveys Lepik’s deep affection and longing for his homeland as a pervasive motif of the poet’s work. For the writer who lived in Koeru as a teenager, Koeru was the center of the world. The memorial stone was found and installed with the help of locals, rowan tree was planted behind the stone. There is a bronze plaque on the stone with Kalju Lepik’s poetry lines:
Promise that I’ll come warm in your arms,
here is the center of the earth
and color burning.
Even the silence stops.
The monument was opened in Koeru in 2020, on the 100th anniversary of Kalju lepiku’s birth.[3]
