In the spring of 2022, a 3.4 m high monumental work was completed on Turu tänale in Tartu as part of the SmartEnCity project. The work is dedicated to the Tartu biodiversity movement and all activists involved in nature conservation. It invites us to think about the nature of humans – what we organize in this world and how we live, what trace we leave behind. Humans are like a fleeting, transparent construction dependent on the biodiversity of the environment to pass on life. Not only to the next human generation, but also to nature on a larger scale. Although we consider ourselves important, we depend on the well-being of a million other beings. “We, as humans, will disappear and so will our traces at some point, but if our life is like a creation in harmony with nature, then it supports the continuation of life and new traces can form in the traces,” says the author.
